After graduating from Hull Nautical College, I began my seafaring career as a cadet aboard the Clan Menzies in 1964, embarking on a memorable voyage to Peru and Chile to load a cargo of fishmeal. My time at sea culminated in 1973 when I served as Second Mate on the Clan Grant.

Over the years, I served on a variety of vessels, including the Clan Maclaren, Elizabeth Bowater, Nicolas Bowater, Clan Maclean, Clan Maclachlan, Gladys Bowater, SA Vaal, Sarah Bowater, Constance Bowater, King Arthur, Clan Farquharson, Clan Matheson, and Clan Macnab.

I earned my Master's Certificate in 1973 and soon after immigrated to the United States, where I recently retired following a 30-year career in the civil service.

During my time with the Marine Division of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, I was primarily involved in producing nautical charts for the U.S. Navy and the Department of Defense.

I now reside in Fairfax, Virginia, a suburb just outside Washington, D.C.

Though life has taken me far from where I started, I’ve never forgotten my roots. I’d be delighted to hear from any of my former shipmates who are still alive and well.
