Career Summary

From training as a Radio Officer using Morse Code to communicate, to the introduction of Radio telex and then Satellite Communication to the dreaded GMDSS radio station retro fit install on most of the ships.

Retraining as a ships electrician. Upgrading to Electronics Officer and finally to Electrotechnical Officer.

Learning how to operate and maintain a full West End Theatre on board the ships from fly lofts, moving stages to taking on the whole new subject of electrical propulsion.

The constant technological advances as each new class of passenger ship were built. Controlling everything in the engine room from an Engine Control Room using a monitor screen, keyboard and mouse to stop, start all manner of equipment, switchboards and power sharing to enable the ship to run smoothly.

The further one progressed the more the stress and strain one took on trying to keep all electrical things up and running smoothly.

Overall, an interesting career, which I now remember fondly looking back through all these records.
