Ended up 2 days on Ascension Island taking over as Purser on MV Clan MacLay as I was nearest Catering Officer on Windsor at the time.

Great few days meeting up with an ex Battle of Britain pilot Peter Thompson at a place called “Two Boats” where there was a huge Greenhouse area supplying American Air Force base.

This also led to time on St Helena having joined Cape of Good Hope on way back as an extra. Seeing where Napolean was kept during his time as a prisoner.

Without joining Cayzer Irvine and hence Union Castle this would never have happened.

Lots of happy memories I am pleased to stay.
