Born South Gipsland, Victoria, Australia, 3rd May 1921.
Son of Charles Alfred Evenden and Reenie Carleton nee Carlos. Ed, Durban Boys' High School.
Cadet Draft 1936-37.
After leaving General Botha, Barree Sanderson Evenden joined the Union-Castle Company as a Cadet.
During the war he served in the Merchant Navy and was Fourth Officer in the Clan Line's Empire Song when she was struck by a mine in the Mediterranean on 9th May 1941, and he was reported missing, presumed lost as the result of enemy action.
