Cadet Training

The training of Deck Cadets of The British & Commonwealth Group was carefully planned to produce Officers that would possess the practical experience and theoretical knowledge to enable them to accept their responsibilities as Officers with confidence and efficiency and to pass their qualifying examinations.

The training was divided into four phases:

Phase I     Training in a “Cadet Training Unit”

Phase II    Service as a Deck Cadet in the fleet

Phase III   Mid-Apprenticeship Release Course at a Navigation School

Phase IV  Service in the Fleet as a Senior Cadet
