Obituary - British Powerboat Racing Club

Francis Whitley has sadly passed away after a short illness.

The veteran racer competed in the Round the Island race earlier this month and in true form finished the race.

He had been campaigning his Shakespeare / Campbell boat, Fugitive, since the 2008 Round Britain race and had enjoyed an enviable reliability record in the many offshore races he had competed in since.

Not only had he completed every Cowes Torquay Cowes race bar two since 2008, but he also won the 2022 UKOPRA Class 2 Championship.

The club extends its deepest sympathy to Francis’ family.
