Received from his wife Margot

Sadly my darling Peter passed away on 1st November 2017.

We married on 1st September. The loveliest brilliant kind gentleman . My bestest friend that I loved so much.

I will notify you when I get a date for the service & funeral.

May I ask you to notify all those people we sailed with on the world cruise and the reunions etc. Thank you I am most grateful.

Peter will be remembered fondly by all engineers in the company as he rose through the ranks to the position of Chief Engineer, but in doing so he will be remembered for saving “Southampton Castle” in East London, South Africa during a storm that threatened the entire being of the ship.

For boarding “Good Hope Castle” when abandoned and on fire in the South Atlantic between Ascension and St. Helena, surveying the burning vessel, arranging salvage and a tow to Europe where she was repaired and put back into service.

He will also be remembered for the work he did on the Wellington Hospital after the company bought it; a project that ultimately brought him great prestige as part of the Saudi Royal Family team working in Riyadh.

This was one great engineer and an amazing friend to so many of us.

God Bless him.
