I began as a cadet with Clan Menzies at Rotherwick Castle, serving as Under Third Officer (U/3/O). I then joined all the Clan R’s vessels—except Clan Ranald—at Windsor Castle as Third Officer (3/O) during the era of P.S.Q. Afterward, I moved to Argyllshire, working alongside Second Officer Spiller and the late Alex Macleod (R/O). Following that, I sailed on King William, and finally spent seven months aboard King Richard with Ossie Barnsley, Corky Bennet, and John Owen.

I left when it became clear that B&C offered limited opportunities to gain tanker experience. Subsequently, I dedicated twenty years to the marine sector of the drilling industry, serving on floating semi-submersibles and ultimately becoming Master with Saipem Drilling.
