After leaving Hull Nautical College, I started sailing as a cadet on the Clan Menzies in 1964 when we undertook a historic voyage to Peru and Chile for a cargo of fishmeal. I ended up as a Second Mate on the Clan Grant in 1973.

In between I served on the Clan Maclaren, Elizabeth Bowater, Nicolas Bowater, Clan Maclean, Clan Machlachlan, Gladys Bowater, SA Vaal, Sarah Bowater, Constance Bowater, King Arthur, Clan Farquharson, Clan Matheson, and Clan Macnab.

I attained a Masters certificate in 1973 and immigrated to the US and recently retired after 30 years in the civil service.

I worked in the Marine Division of the National Geospacial Intelligence Agency. Much of my work involved the production of nautical charts for the US Navy and Department of Defence.

I live in Fairfax, Virginia, an outer suburb of Washington DC.

I never forgot my roots. I would love to hear from any of my old shipmates who are still alive and kicking.
