It is with deep sadness, but also with an overwhelming amount of love, that I share the news that my beautiful mummy passed away peacefully this morning.

The last four years have been incredibly challenging. Dementia slowly took so much from her, and there have been countless times when I felt I was saying goodbye long before today. Throughout it all, I did my very best to make sure Mum’s care was always my greatest priority, and I hope she knew just how deeply she was loved.

I’m comforted by the thought that she is now reunited with my dear daddy and my brother David. I hope they’re together again, watching over us and continuing to sprinkle happiness down on me and their gorgeous grandchildren.

To all of Mum’s wonderful friends, I know this news will bring sadness. Please know how much your friendship meant to her over the years. She always used to say that after spending time with her friends, she came home with a little glowing ball of happiness inside her. Thank you all for giving her so many moments like that. You brought her so much happiness, laughter and love, and for that I will be forever grateful.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Mum, and our family, throughout her and my Dad's journey. Your kindness has meant more than words can ever express.

If, over the coming weeks, you happen to see a pavlova, a crème brûlée, a simple Mr Whippy ice cream, or enjoy a glass of champagne, please have one in Mum’s memory. I know she’d be smiling.

I’ll be in touch with funeral arrangements as soon as I can. Due to summer holidays, I'd like to do it in a few weeks as I'm keen that my children enjoy their summer holidays. However, I’ll be in the hands of others, so I’ll confirm the details as soon as they’re finalised.

I’ve attached a few photographs of Mum that are among my favourites. I hope they bring back some happy memories and make you smile, just as they do for me.

Please do feel free to forward this message to anyone who knew Mum and may not have heard the news. I wouldn’t want anyone who cared about her to be left unaware.
