My late father, John Coombs, joined the Windsor Castle as 2nd Baker on her maiden voyage and stayed until her very last voyage.

It was his second home and he made a lot of goods friends.

I remember going with Dad to a meeting in Southampton when a group wanted to save her from being broken up and return her to her home port to be used as a hotel/museum I think.

Unfortunately the costs were way too high and she could not be saved.
