1914 Hired by The Admiralty for service as Auxiliary Cruiser
1915 disappeared at sea in Atlantic while serving as Armed Merchant Cruiser (HMS Clan MacNaughton) - presumed mined; loss of 281 lives.
Whilst on patrol duty as an auxiliary cruiser she was last heard of on the above date under the command of Com Robert Jeffreys.
She was never seen again but wreckage was found in the area.
Presumed sunk with 20 officers and 261 ratings
