My great, great uncle JAMES RYMER was Chief Engineer on the SS Clan MacPhee in 1914. He was killed in a fire on board the ship off Ceylon in 1914 and buried there.
Some years ago my parents visited his tombstone which was erected by his fellow crew members. They were the first people to go there from our family since he passed away.
I was wondering if you had any more information about him or the circumstances surrounding his death. I have not been able to find a picture of the tombstone since my parents died but I do remember it being quite substantial with a fitting epitaph.
I have not been able to establish which cemetery it is in which is rather frustrating! Any information you have in your archives would be most welcome.
