Notes on loss
At 20.56 hours on 29 Sep, 1943, the Banffshire (Master Herbert Evans) was torpedoed and sunk by U-532 southwest of the Laccadive Islands.
One crew member was lost.
The master, 88 crew members and ten gunners were picked up by HMIS Rajputana (J 197) (Lt W.G. Coltham, RIN) and landed at Colombo.
