Awarded DSM for his part in Operation Pedestal when serving aboard Rochester Castle as Deck Boy.

From Ships Nostalgia 10 June 2016

My dad was a Deck Boy on MV Rochester Castle (Union Castle Line)during WW2. He was part of Operation Pedestal, his ship was torpedoed and made it into Valetta Harbour where they remained for some time.

My dad was 92 yesterday and sadly in poor health. I am trying to find any person who can help me to find information about the ship, the crew, those times in Malta and even any other trips made on the Rochester Castle that will help him to remember what was probably the best of times (and worst of times) while he was so young.

Thank you in advance for any help I may receive
