Joined Safmarine in 1970. Served on the S.A.Hexriver.

After G.B. sailed on the Far East run.

Later transferred to Union Castle for a year on the S.A.Oranje (mailship).

After 2nd Officers Certificate went back to the Far East run and then back to Union Castle as 3rd Officer on the S.A.Oranje.

Finished off sea time for Chief Officers Certificate in the S.A.Sugela after which he sailed as Chief Officer on the ‘Zwartkops’ with Unicorn.

Swallowed the anchor in 1975 and transferred ashore to Safmarine Computer Services.

Emigrated to Australia in 1989 and settled in Sydney.

In 1990, I went back to University to complete the MBA. After a variety of roles in strategy and planning, I finally completed my law studies (LLB) that I started in South Africa, and was admitted as a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

I am now in corporate practice, specialising in litigation mainly in the areas of Competition and Consumer Law.
