March 1945 – obtained 2nd Mates Certificate in London. Then two years as 3/0 and 2/0 of M.T. “Tancred” attached to British Pacific Fleet.

Then ss “Umtali” & “Umgena”, Bullard King.

1948 – Mates Certificate, Cardiff.

Returned to S.A. Joined Mitchell Cotts Ships Agency.

Spent next 40 years in ships agency in Cape Town.

Retired 1988 as Regional Manager Freightmarine/Rennies Ships Agency.
