My name is Diane Andrews, born in England, migrated to Australia in 1971. I have been trying to compose an ancestry tree for my family. Today I received more information from Nigel Herbert in England, we share the same tree.
I found a very moving story about Samuel included in the info he gave me, he suggested I "Google" the sinking of the H.M.H.S .LLANDOVERY CASTLE in June 1918.
I shall be eternally grateful for him pointing me in this direction, But what a terrible act on a hospital ship. I am lucky enough to have been born at the end of the WW2, but listened to many horrific stories from grandfathers, uncles etc.
Never dreaming that Samuel born 1848 had been killed so horrifically, and I didn't know....even tho he was born so long ago. (This date of birth is probably wrong, if true then he would have been 70 at the time of his death)
If it wasn't for your reporting and writing, I would never have known, as I am a great believer in "Lest we forget"
Samuel will now be honoured by all my future generations together with other lost relatives.
Thank you on behalf of all the families who needed a well documented file, to give them insight and closure, and hopefully some peace.
Sincerely Diane Andrews.
