Thanks to Facebook I have a few recollections of Ken from those that sailed with him and under his command:

From David Yates (Cadet on Clan Ramsay)

Ken Morton was the best Captain I ever sailed with "I only have one rule in the bar and that is .. this is my bar stool!

Sailed with him on Clan Ramsay as a deck cadet. He always bought me a beer when I entered the bar.

One of the greasers kept calling him "Ken" .. instead of pulling rank he just said in front of the greasers mates "Do you fancy me?" "Of course not" came the reply "Well every one else calls me sir, so I was just wondering?" He called him sir from that moment on!!

Another from David Yates

With "Captain Ken" we were on stages chipping the front of the accomodation, as we got to his cabin he opened the port hole and said to me "Here's 10p sonny go and play somewhere else!"

From John Hosty (Cadet on Clan Matheson)

Ken Morton was an amazing man. He was Captain on Clan Matheson, my first trip to sea.

Memories of Ken Morton

Capt Ken Morton

From myself Chris Isaac (3rd Officer on Reina Del Mar)

Sailed his last voyage as Chief Officer before he spent a short while in London before his first command. He was one of those gentlemen who were a pleasure to sail with, comfortable in being able to combine authority with humour and grace.
